Swimsuits For Plus Size Women

I am always fascinated by women who wear swimsuits of varying
styles, colors, and sizes, basking their bodies in the beach.
The figure of a woman is fully seen and accentuated as they wear
swimsuits and enjoy the cool waters of the beach. During summer,
may people, especially women take time to buy and shop for the
perfect summer bikini, thong, and swim wear. In fact, today
people with extra flabs in the body, don’t have to worry about
whether a swim wear will fit them nor not since there are plus
size swim wear specifically design for women size 12 and above.
Now, women can fully flown that sexy curves with grace and
style.

There are three things that people look for when buying a swim
wear. One is style or design, second is function and third is
price. Sometimes, there are women who disregard comfort for the
sake of fashion as they wear a bikini or thong. This is not to
say that thongs or bikinis are bad to wear, but they pose
problems when it comes to using it underwater. But nevertheless,
they are fashionable and sexy as long as swimsuits are
concerned.

Whenever I am in the beach and I see men wearing masculine
trunks and women wearing revealing swimsuits, I feel that I’m in
a Miss and Mr. Universe pageant or in a parade where bodies in
different costumes are the spectacle or highlight of the show.
It really makes me wonder why people have to allot time doing
beach ritual and tradition of wearing swimsuits along with body
accessories. Is it really just for the sheer pleasure of knowing
that someone might be admiring or gazing at you because of your
swimsuit? Or is it for your love of swimsuits?

Nowadays, a lot of teenagers and adults are imitating the
fashion style of Hollywood actors and actresses. They want to
know the latest fashion style in every clothing, not just swim
wear, to follow their idols. There’s nothing wrong with
imitating Hollywood style as long as they feel happy and
comfortable in what they wear. I am just saying this to
emphasize that Hollywood celebrities have a big impact on the
lives of the people.

Swim suits or swim wear as we know today is not how swim suits
looked like several ages ago. During ancient times, when the
concept of recreation bathing is conceived, people wore robes as
they bathe. But there were findings of bikinis that are similar
to how it looks like today. One way or the other, the Greeks are
responsible for perceiving the notion of using bathing suits or
swim wear. The bathing suits before are like togas that cover up
the whole body. Eventually the decline during the Fall of Roman
Empire, water was used for therapy and not for recreation
anymore.

In the 1800’s there is a return to using swim wear as people
begin to go to beaches nearby during the transportation
revolution in America. The swimsuit of the time were black
stockings and bloomers. Men were only allowed by society to swim
as there were dangers of being exposed in the nature of the swim
suit. Over the years that follow, bathing suits are continually
developed from one piece to two piece bathing suits until
tankinis and other various styles arrive to accommodate the
needs of women.

Nowadays, women with a few extra pounds don’t have to settle
themselves behind the sidelines as they can wear the same design
or style of swim wear that think women can wear, with plus size
swim wear. They can wear two piece bikini high tops and if they
are shy, they can wear a bathing suit dress that looks equally
elegant and hides those unwanted fats in the body.

One of the swimsuits for plus size women is Lane Bryant’s Bow
Front Swim Tank, which is a one piece swimsuit that has a V-neck
accentuating the breast in a sexy and sophisticated way. The
material characteristics are spandex and nylon which are perfect
for handwashing and will not expand or widen when soaked in
laundry. It fits the body well, escalating only the curves on
the waist and on the butt, which gives out a perfect curve even
though the woman wearing it is a size twenty.

This bathing suit has an empire waist cut and a soft cup
breast, which combines comfort and sexiness in one. It also
costs around $89.50. A sarong or a *colorful fabric* wrapped
around the waist could elevate the sexy and sensual effect of
this swimsuit. Now, even plus size women can draw the attention
of the crowd as they wear this swim wear.

On one hand, Avenue Tropical Animal Swim Tank, which is a tank
top swim wear with animal or tropical prints. It fits the body
well without sagging when dip in water. It has a double strap
for protection and has soft cup that will make swimming
comfortable and enjoyable. The good thing about this top is that
it has a contour bra that adds support and convenience to women.
The color also of this suit is neutral black that can be paired
to almost all kinds of bikinis or shorts. The drawback only of
this bathing suit is that it doesn’t have a bottom pair which is
impractical since you have to buy another one just to pair this
swim wear. Nevertheless, it’s functional and attractive.

Plus Size Fashion Skyrockets

By Tim Jonny

America’s plus size community is expanding. Studies show that
the average dress size in the United States is already size 14.
Furthermore, according to a research company, the sales of the
plus-size women’s clothes increased by 7 percent. These are
evidences that the population of the plus sized people are
indeed growing.

To remove the idea that skinny is the only way to be beautiful,
there are have been many fashionable clothes that are made for
the plus size person. Plus size clothes no longer hang in the
end of the rack but are a whole new category of clothes. Indeed,
a perfect 10 is not needed to sport the latest trends in
fashion.

Clothes for plus size people are differently designed. These
target the possible problem areas that a typical plus size
people may encounter. Here are some reminders to keep up with
the plus size fashion

• Keep accessories near the neck and sleeves. Scarves and
stoles have worked wonders in the whole outfit. These divert
attention from flabby arms and/or broad shoulders. For an
illusion of slimness, wrap it around or across your shoulders.

• Do not highlight the problem areas (arm, hips and waist) with
bold prints, bright colors and accessories. Horizontal stripes
are not recommended if they are thick because they will only
make you look wider. Thin horizontal stripes are fine because
from a far they seem to look like a solid color. NOTE: color and
pattern are not as essential as shape and fit.

• Embroidery is suggested to be near the skirt hemline. Cover
the hips, if it is a problem area, with long tops

• Tops should slightly clingy to the waist to provide a
slimming look. However, it shouldn’t be too clingy or too loose
either. Never wear anything that would make you look like that
you are wearing a tent. Wide necklines are suggested.

* Choose fabrics that fit great and give structure. Fabrics
that cling at the problem areas are of course not recommended.
Heavier fabrics and heavier weight cotton are the ones suggested
for plus size women. These fabric controls the body shape rather
than body shape the clothes.

* Choosing the right hairstyle is also essential to prevent
highlighting puffy cheeks and adding on a slimming illusion to
your face

Following these reminders may aid the average plus size person
in choosing the right clothes and accessories for them. Here are
some basic items that would look fabulous on those plus size
women.

1. Wide-leg trousers. Be sure that it fitting on the your
body’s widest part and would just flow straight down.

2. V-neck tops. This kind of tops makes your neck look longer.
Thus, making you look taller.

3. A-line skirts. This kind of skirt gives you the hourglass
figure. It also goes great with a lot of other clothes.

Today, plus size does not mean fat. It has already established
its reputation in the fashion scene that it can be both sexy and
sophisticated. In fact, more stores have added plus sizes in
their racks to cater to more customers. Indeed, the plus size
fashion skyrocketed in the market.

Fashion has a great impact in ones society. Sometimes, we
cannot escape that society would somehow dictate what looks good
or not. However, with the right clothes and right attitude, your
feeling gorgeous and sexy wouldn’t be so hard in any size.

Plus Size Fashion Tips

Posted under Plus Size by Joyce on November 3rd, 2008 9:42 am

There are certain basic guidelines every women should observe
when selecting clothing and accessories. You should first
determine your basic body type and use this as a basis for
making clothing choices. Just remember that these are general
guidelines and not hard and fast rules. You must be the final
judge of what looks best on you and also remember, that if a
piece of clothing doesn’t feel comfortable to you, then it
doesn’t matter how flattering or stylish it is!

Your first priority should be choosing clothing that is of high
quality and is offered at a reasonable price. It’s all about
value. With these points in mind, below are several guidelines
for selecting plus size clothing that will bring out the best in
your individual body type:

1. Don’t Let Clothing Hang Off Your Body

The entire point of new plus size clothing fashions today is
the wide selection of great fitting styles for plus size women.
Gone are the days of tent-like frocks and other unflattering
garments. Of course, a lot depends on your size and body type,
but you should be able to find clothing that flatters your
figure without completely draping over you. Even a loose,
flowing summer dress with short sleeves that reveals nicely
tanned arms and well-turned ankles can be both extremely
flattering and comfortable. Also consider loose tops such tunic
tops.

2. Be Careful With Skin Tight Clothing

There’s certainly no rule that says plus size women shouldn’t
wear tight clothing. It’s really a matter of comfort — even in
petite sizes, skintight clothing can be uncomfortable. Spandex
is a remarkable fabric and it is found in a lot of plus size
clothing. A little give to a garment is a great thing.
Ultimately it’s up to you if you’re comfortable going to the gym
in Spandex tights or out to a club in a cat suit.

3. Consider High Waisted Dresses

A dress with a high waistline, sometimes referred to as an
“empire waist”, can greatly flatter your figure by making your
waist appear much smaller. A wide range of dress styles from
casual to formal are offered with empire waist lines. Decorative
bodices and stripes below the bust line further accentuate the
impression of a small waistline. They should be a part of every
plus size women’s wardrobe.

4. Be Careful With Swim Skirts

There are lots of great swimsuits to choose from in plus sizes.
A common style in plus size swim wear is the swim skirt and swim
dress. The swim skirt can draw attention away from your waist
and rear, but this style also harkens back to swim fashions from
the 1920s. Often times a slimming one-piece suit can work very
well depending on your size and body type. Where swim skirts can
be effective is in 2-piece suits or tankinis.

5. Consider Wraps

If your upper arms are not as firm as you’d like you may wish
to consider wearing cover-ups. Wraps and cover-ups are also a
great way for adding a touch of elegance to formal wear and
gowns and will also provide warmth to your shoulders on cool
evenings. Remember that long sleeves can be very sexy in plus
sizes!

By keeping this short list of plus size fashion tips in mind
you can put together an amazing wardrobe for all seasons and
occasions.

Plus Size Shopping Online

Posted under Plus Size, Shopping by Joyce on October 30th, 2008 9:36 am

By Maya Matthews

I am often surprised by people’s reaction when I tell them that
I bought my latest dress off the Internet. They cannot
understand how I could take the ‘risk’ of buying something so
personal online, without even touching or trying it on first.
This is the most common feedback I get from many friends and
relatives when they compliment me on my new outfit, ask me where
I got it from and I tell them… online!

The thing is, most of this feedback comes from people who are
size 10 or less and who do not understand how much of a
distressing experience clothes shopping can be for a lady who is
size 20.

I remember when I was younger hating going shopping with
cousins or friends. Most of the time I used to end up being
their shopping assistant instead of their fellow shopper; not
finding anything that I liked which was in my size, would
usually leave me no other option. I could not understand why
most stores could not open their eyes real wide and realise that
most women are curvy! It felt (and still does feel) so unfair to
me that most of the fashionable styles of clothing are not
available for plus sized women.

My shopping experience changed from night to day when I
discovered plus size clothing stores online. I could not believe
the amount of stores available online for plus size women.
Stores exclusively carrying plus size fashion; apparel and
accessories that looked good and that was in my size. I was
ecstatic at my discovery, this eased so many of my shopping
problems.

I can now say that over the years the amount of plus size
stores available online has grown tremendously, and the quality
of fashion available has definitely improved. Plus size store
online are now able to satisfy all tastes, occasions and sizes.

I have decided to share these thoughts with you to encourage
fellow plus size women who may be looking for that special
outfit, or who simply want to shop for more clothes, to consider
the option of shopping online because, believe me, it will open
many stylish doors for you!

Here follow my seven essentials reasons why I personally shop
online for most of my clothes and why I am recommending online
shopping to all plus size women.

1. Size availability

Finally you no longer have to worry about whether stores carry
the item you like in your size, because plus size stores online
cater exclusively to plus size women’s needs. That is, they
usually carry items from size 12 or 14 to size 48 and above!
Most stores have their own size ranges, as some may stop at size
34 for instance while others may carry items up to size 50. This
usually varies on a store by store basis.

2. Endless choice of styles

When you are out and about shopping in the usual stores, you
are rather limited to the styles of clothing available at one
store. Some stores may focus on formal wear rather than casual,
and some may not carry swimwear or lingerie for instance. This
inconvenience does not exist online. Why? Most plus size
clothing stores online carry a wide variety of styles. Plus, it
is easy for you whilst you are shopping around online, to switch
from one store to the other if you are looking for a different
style.

3. Ease of shopping

I don’t know about you but shopping is one tiring chore;
walking around big stores, out of this one and into the other.
By the end of the day your feet will be aching; makes you wonder
why you go into all their trouble in the first place! Shopping
around on the Internet just to see what’s in stock, what’s in
fashion and what the price ranges are, can be done at just the
click of a mouse. You can tirelessly click your way from store
to store.

4. Greater selection

When shopping online for clothes I usually find that I am open
to a more vast selection of items than when I’m otherwise
shopping in usual stores. A store’s web-site usually lists all
the items available within that particular store, so you can
view everything online. The fashion available to plus size women
online from the various stores available is simply endless; you
will find stores to suit every taste, age and size. You will
find the right store for you!

5. Save those pennies

Looking for the best priced item is much easier online. Imagine
you have found an item that you would like to buy; you could
easily make a note of it by book-marking the page, and before
actually buying that item you can browse around the other plus
size clothing stores to check whether they carry the same or
similar items at a cheaper price. There are also a lot of
promotions and sales going on at online plus size stores. Some
stores may choose to keep you updated to their promotions by
emailing you monthly newsletters, which will keep you up to date
with money saving deals, coupons available and discounts.

6. Friendlier shopping experience

I don’t know about you but one thing I really hate is the nasty
attitude and looks I get sometimes from shopping assistants when
they tell you, “Sorry we do not carry that in your size!” Seems
to me like they need some chocolate in their system! You will
definitely not get any of that from most plus size stores
online, as they understand the needs of big beautiful women and
the friendly customer service reps are usually plus size ladies
themselves.

7. Convenient!

This is definitely my favourite perk of shopping online. It is
simply convenient! You can shop whenever you what, at what time
you want and you can even shop in your pyjamas! You have ample
of time to think about your purchase, look over the items you
want to buy over and over until you make you final decision. It
is just all about you and your time.

Overall shopping online is much more of a pleasant experience.
Personally I shop online for a wide range of stuff, due to time
constraints and everyday life; however even if I had all the
time in the world I would still opt for shopping online when
looking for new clothes and accessories as it is much more of a
satisfying experience. I recommend online shopping at plus size
fashion stores to all the big beautiful women who have trouble
finding outfits they really like and which fit them well. The
Internet will make you love shopping and your figure!
