5 Tips For A Great Fashion Fit

Ladies, have you ever been in a department store dressing room
and talked yourself into buying an outfit that looked great –
on someone else?

Face it. If it doesn’t fit right in the dressing room, it won’t
fit well or look good when you wear it out in public. Here are
five quick and easy tips to remember when buying clothes that
look good and fit well on your body type.

Tip #1 – Stick to a Color Theme

Wear the same color from head to toe. This will create the
illusion of a long lean line. Neutral colors work best for this
effect: black, brown, camel or cream. (Note: add a splash of
color with a jacket or wrap)

Tip #2 – Wear Your Correct Size

Dress in the size you are – not the size you want to be. In
spite of what you might believe, wearing clothes that are too
tight or too big will make you look LARGER.

Tip #3 – Be Aware of Flattering Fabrics

You want to wear fabrics that skim your curves instead of cling
to them. Fabrics should drape your body and make you look good,
not lumpy.

Tip #4 – Best Pants to Wear

The most flattering pants to wear for all body types have a
flat front, fall just below the navel (not hip huggers), and
flare slightly at the bottom.

Tip #5 – Best Skirt to Wear

The most flattering skirts to wear for all body types gets a
perfect grade of “A”. The A-line skirt looks good on everybody
and is great for hiding figure flaws.

Fashion Trend Report: The New Basic Is Anything But Black

Posted under Basics by Joyce on March 25th, 2007 6:49 pm

We all have it in our closets. Black – the universal color that
mixes and matches with anything. Black makes us look good, while
covering up figure flaws. And that’s good. Black has its place
in our fashion hearts. But, now it’s time expand our wardrobe
options into colorful uncharted territory.

Are you ready, ladies? Here are the new color combinations that
will spice up your wardrobe and get you away from reaching for
black when you may be in a mood for something a little more
adventurous.

Chic Color Combo: Brown and Pink

Brown is a great alternative neutral to black. A brown pair of
pants or a brown skirt with a pink top is a nice feminine look
that is warm and inviting.

Chic Color Combo: Navy and Orange

Navy is traditionally paired with white or red. But let’s think
outside the box a bit and go for a navy suit with an orange
blouse or tank top. Wear navy shoes for a traditional look, or
shoes with orange accents for a little fun.

Chic Color Combo: Burgundy and Red

For a casual look that has a wow impact, pair a burgundy top
with a red sweater, jacket or hoodie. Wear with jeans.

Chic Color Combo: Charcoal and Yellow

Charcoal is a dark gray color that’s a step away from black. It
goes great with cool toned colors but I bet you never thought
about pairing it with yellow. Try a yellow sweater or sweater
set with charcoal pants or skirt.

Chic Color Combo: Chocolate Brown and Baby Blue

Baby blue is a nice, soft blue color that looks good on most
people. You can wear a baby blue top under a chocolate brown
blazer or sweater. Soften that brown suit with a baby blue
blouse or knit top.

Plus Size Fashion Trend: Feminine Chic

A new fashion year is here and so are the latest styles for
women looking to freshen up their wardrobes. Ladies, good news.
Femininity is back!

From the office to casual wear, you can show off the power of
your femininity while still taking care of business. Jackets
are a great way to add flair and style to your pants and
skirts. Boucle jackets are hot. Also, pairing a colorful denim
jacket with a flouncy skirt gives you a variety options for a
more dressed up casual look.

You should have at least one boucle jacket in your closet.
Boucle is very chic and can dress up a pair of black pants or a
black skirt very easily. Boucle jackets come in a variety of
colors. Some have removable flower pins, some have ruffles,
etc. In celebrity circles it’s popular to pair a boucle jacket
with jeans and high heels or boots. Very chic.

Skirts are longer, falling either just above the knee or just
below the knee. You’ll find skirts with asymmetric cuts,
ruffles at the bottom, or with a free flowing feel. Why not add
a flowery or ethnic print skirt to your collection. Pair it with
a jean jacket in blue, pink or white for extra pizzazz.

Colorful ponchos and shrug wraps (wraps that are fitted and tie
in the middle) are great accent pieces to wear over plain black
or white tops. Speaking of tops, try a shirt or blouse in a
bold funky print to spice things up a bit. Plus size women are
no longer bound by arcane rules that say they can’t wear
prints. Dress for your personality.

Shopping for new clothes is a fun experience and the options
for plus size women are better than ever. You’ll find all the
new trends and plus size fashion styles to create your own
feminine chic look at great online shops like: Lane Bryant,
Catherines, Avenue, Just My Size, Making It Big, Ulla Popken,
Size Appeal, Kiyonna and more.
